If you have a good memory, you will remember that almost two years ago, in July 2019, Amazon Game Studios announced the development of an MMO dedicated to The Lord of the Rings,made in partnership with the holding company Leyou Technologies, which owns the game's license. Since then, nothing has been known about the project: what has happened to it? Simple: Has been canceled.

This is revealed by the US newspaper Bloomberg,through the pen of the well-known journalist Jason Schreier: last December the financial giant Tencent Holdings acquired Leyou Technologies, and after this acquisition Amazon and Tencent could not find a legal agreement to continue with the development of the title, leading to the mandatory cancellation of the project.

After this cancellation, the game license remains in the hands of Leyou/Tencent,who may decide to entrust the development to a different partner, thus restarting the project from scratch: we will let you know if there is any news about it.
