Battlefield 6: multiplayer and launch date revealed, Open Beta dates announced
The event showcased multiplayer modes for the first time, both new and old, but also gave a taste of the massive single-player campaign and the evolution of Battlefield Portal. The setting will take us to 2027, with the world on the brink of chaos. Following a high-profile assassination that shocked the planet, major European nations have abandoned NATO, while the United States and its allies grapple with the aftermath. Trying to fill this power vacuum will be a gigantic private military corporation, PAX ARMATA, equipped with unlimited funds and cutting-edge technologies.
Battlefield 6 will introduce a number of new features, including the all-new Kinesthetic Combat System, which will improve movement and gunplay. This will guarantee us an unprecedented level of mobility, offering new tactical options such as the ability to drag and revive teammates to get them out of danger, or mount weapons on walls to reduce recoil. The iconic class system will also return, with Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer, each with their own unique gadgets, distinctive weapons, and dedicated training to propel their team to victory. Environmental destruction, a classic of the series, has also been enhanced to offer unparalleled freedom, allowing us to transform the combat zone to create new paths and flank enemies.
At launch, Battlefield 6 will offer a rich package of multiplayer modes and maps, which will take us to fight around the world, from Egypt to Gibraltar, to the streets of New York. Each map will feature different combat zones, tailored to specific game modes. Classic and fan-favorite modes like Conquest, Breakthrough , and Rush will return, joined by first-person shooter mainstays like Team Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Domination , and King of the Hill. These will be joined by a completely new mode called Escalation, in which two teams will battle it out to conquer strategic control points.
The game will also see the return of a new and improved version of Portal, the powerful and now leaner set of creative tools that will allow us to redraw the rules of war and create unique content called Community Experiences. Ambitious post-launch support has also been promised that will constantly add new modes, maps, weapons and other features.
Finally, the largest Open Beta in Battlefield history was announced, which will take place over two weekends: August 9-10 and August 14-17. It will be possible to access the beta two days early, on August 7, by following some of the most famous streamers as they play the title. The beta, available on all platforms, will give us the opportunity to try out several of the multiplayer modes and maps.
We leave you now with not one, but three trailers dedicated to multiplayer: the first is the normal multiplayer trailer that shows us an overview of the game, the second is an in-depth look at Combat, Classes and Destruction, and the third instead shows us Maps, Modes and Portals. Enjoy the viewing!
