AMD comments on the agreement with Microsoft: it will be the heart of fixed, portable and cloud consoles

In recent days, Microsoft has announced a new "multi-year strategic partnership" with AMD for the development of next-generation Xbox consoles. Now AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has commented on this deal, suggesting that it will go beyond fixed consoles, also involving any handheld consoles and Xbox Cloud.

Dr. Su spoke of "a bold and shared vision for the future of gaming," which will result in a smooth and seamless gaming experience on any screen, placing players at the center of the experience wherever they are. The goal is to create a unified and versatile ecosystem that transcends the boundaries of individual platforms.

The CEO explained that, from now on, AMD's role will go "beyond" the simple creation of the custom chips used in Xbox hardware. The company is now committed to developing a "comprehensive roadmap of gaming-optimized chips," which will combine the power of Ryzen and Radeon technologies for consoles, handheld devices, PCs, and the cloud.

This makes us understand that, thanks to the new AMD chips, Microsoft is also preparing to revolutionize Xbox Cloud, which is currently based on Xbox Series X hardware and which will move to the next gen with the arrival of the new consoles.

It was also emphasized that this new ecosystem will be developed with an eye to full backward compatibility, thus allowing us to continue to enjoy our games on different platforms. This approach will also use artificial intelligence to create models that can improve graphics rendering, with the aim of offering the next generation of gameplay and graphics.

"From the console to the cloud to the laptop, AMD and Microsoft are building the future of immersive gaming," Su concluded. "We're excited to partner with Microsoft to bring all of this technology to gamers around the world."
