A new trailer for The Sinking City 2 gives us an in-depth look at the game mechanics
The game will immerse us in a decadent and disturbing vision of America in the 20s, within the infamous city of Arkham. A supernatural flood forced almost all the inhabitants to flee, leaving the streets prey to degradation and monstrous cosmic abominations. As occult adventurer Calvin Rafferty, we will have to navigate the submerged streets in a desperate attempt to save our girlfriend Faye, who has been trapped in a mysterious sleep due to a ritual gone wrong. During our exploration we will have to deal with the Slithers, frightening creatures capable of possessing the dead and transforming them into lethal walking puppets.
In terms of gameplay, the structure of The Sinking City 2 will blend the typical tension of survival horror with investigative mechanics. To survive the madness of Arkham we will have to explore ruined apartments, sunken markets and abandoned hospitals, moving both on foot and aboard a boat. Resource management will be key: ammo and supplies will be extremely limited, forcing us to carefully balance the inventory to decide what to take with us and what to leave behind before facing the abominable presences with an arsenal of weapons of the time. We can also decide to deepen our investigations by solving secondary cases and optional puzzles, useful for discovering secrets, unlocking upgrades and enriching our knowledge of the narrative universe.
The trailer finally revealed the actors who will play the key characters of the story, whose events are inextricably intertwined with the nightmare of Arkham. The protagonist Calvin Rafferty will be voiced by Andrew Wheildon-Dennis, already known for his roles in titles such as Baldur's Gate III, The Invincible and Dragon's Dogma III. The determined and brilliant Faye Bennett will instead see the voice of Gemma Elizabeth Whelan, famous for her role as Yara Greyjoy in the TV series Game of Thrones and for her video game interpretations in Elden Ring and Mass Effect: Andromeda.
