Perfect Dark's design director leaves The Initiative

Drew Murray, the design director of Perfect Dark'sreboot, announced that he had quit his job at Xbox studio The Initiative, not because of problems within the studio or offers from other companies, but simply to devote himself to his personal life. Murray announced his departure from the studio, and consequently from the game's reboot project, via a Post on Twitter.

Here's an excerpt from what the creative director said in his post: "After two crazy years of helping Xbox and The Initiative studio reboot Perfect Dark,it's time for me to greet my team with bittersweet tears.

It was amazing to work side by side with such a talented and experienced team, but my life outside of work needs more attention and mental space than I've been able to give him lately; so I've come to the conclusion that I'm leaving my position.

When I entered the studio I didn't even know the project would be Perfect Dark - years later we announced the franchise with a trailer that still makesme gooseskin. The upside of all this is that I'm excited to join the screaming masses of players waiting for the game to launch!"

Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's gaming division, wished Murray well: "Thank you for your work, which helped build the foundation of The Initiative and Perfect Dark. I wish you all the best for the future, Drew."

All we can do is wish Drew Murray the best, too, and wait patiently for the arrival of Perfect Dark, announced for the first time at The Game Awards 2020.
