The development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 goes into pause due to the war in Ukraine

The current invasion of Ukraine by Russia is involving and wreaking havoc on the lives of many people, and among them there are also the developers of Ukrainian studios such as Frogwares (Sherlock Holmes), 4A Games (Metro) and GSC Game World, authors of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Precisely this title, previously expected in April and then moved to December 2022, is among the projects impacted by the conflict.

The developers are obviously busy securing themselves and their families, so let us know that work on the game is temporarily interrupted pending the end of the conflict, indeed the victory they hope for their homeland. It is therefore foreseeable that the release of the game will postpone to 2023, but for now it is not possible to know what the scope of the postponement will be.

The developers tell us the news with a touching video that you can find on YouTube, of which we propose the translation:

"Last week we edited a video dedicated to our motion capture activities. We wanted to show you how we created the cut-scenes of the game. Reviewing videos, preparing texts, talking to actors...

Last week is an eternity ago.

On February 24, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent missiles, tanks and soldiers to our homeland. Once again our country is forced to fight for its existence. Apparently, this is the price of freedom.

This video is the answer to the question "How are you, guys"?

At the moment we are trying to help our staff and their families survive. The development of the game has been put in the background, ma will definitely resume. After the victory.

Glory to Ukraine!"

Putting aside the problems of game development, which obviously become secondary and irrelevant in a situation like this, we wish the boys of GSC Game World and all the families - both Ukrainian and Russian - affected by the conflict to see the end of this madness soon.
