After many rumors and leaks, the official announcement has finally arrived: XBOX has revealed, introducing them in the Insider program, the Mythic Achievements, a new type of achievement designed to celebrate the games for which we have completed all the objectives, on a par with PlayStation's Platinum.

The operation of the Mythic Achievement is simple: we will get it when we have unlocked all the original achievements, i.e. those present at launch, of a game. Those added later through DLC or updates will not be taken into account and, once we reach Mythic status in a game, it will remain ours forever. It should be noted that the novelty does not introduce new challenges or additional Gamerscore, but only offers one more way to show off the games we have completed.

The system is also retroactive. Mythic Achievements have already been awarded to eligible games completed in the past, including XBOX 360 titles, so once they're available to everyone, we may find that some of our favorite games have already achieved Mythic status.

In addition to this, our profile will welcome a new Gaming tab, from which we will be able to consult our achievements, monitor the next badge linked to Gamerscore achievements and find the games we have completed. Within the history of achievements, the Mythic Achievements stand out thanks to a special "heroic" frame, so as to understand at a glance how many we have already earned. We will also be able to visit our friends' Gaming cards, to see what they have achieved and which games have led to Mythic status.

For those who are still halfway there, XBOX has come up with tools that make it clearer how far we are from the finish line. At the top of each game's achievement list we'll find a new progress bar that indicates how close we are to Mythic status, with the ability to focus only on the original achievements we have left to unlock. Those added later will be labeled "add-ons", so you always know for sure what matters for Mythic.

Similar progress information will also be visible in other areas of the XBOX ecosystem, including the Guide and the Achievement Details screen, so you can easily pick up where you left off and continue the hunt for the next Mythic Achievement. For now, this is only available for testing to members of the XBOX Insider program, but it will be released to everyone soon.
