4A Games announces the next gen versions of Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux

4A Games takes us back to the origins of its post-apocalyptic saga by announcing the Next-Gen update of METRO 2033 Redux and METRO Last Light Redux. It is a completely free update for those who already own the two games, designed to improve graphics and performance and make them fully compatible with modern hardware, arriving on October 29th.

The intervention aims to rejuvenate the technical performance without betraying the look and atmosphere that made the originals famous. The animations gain in fidelity, the sound sector rises in quality and the environments are enriched with details, all accompanied by enhanced textures and a refined light and shadow system, which should restore even more depth to the disturbing underground world of Moscow.

On consoles we will be able to choose between a native 4K resolution at 60 FPS or a 4K obtained by upscaling to 120 FPS, with native support for XBOX Series X|S. Those who play on XBOX Series X will also be able to count on TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing support, while spatial audio will be available on XBOX platforms in general, as well as the Impulse Triggers of XBOX controllers. Thanks to support for XBOX Handheld and XBOX Play Anywhere, we will finally be able to take Artyom's journey with us and resume it wherever we prefer.

The announcement coincides with an important milestone for the critically acclaimed series, which has now exceeded 50 million copies sold worldwide. An achievement that Jon Bloch, Executive Producer of 4A Games, wanted to share with the community: "It's been an incredible journey over the last two decades and we couldn't be prouder of what the team has accomplished or more grateful to the players who have walked these tunnels with us". Precisely for this reason, he explained, the choice to offer the update for free, as already happened with METRO Exodus, seemed the most natural way to thank fans: "Our community has supported us from the beginning; every milestone we reach belongs to them as much as to us".

For veterans it will therefore be the ideal opportunity to return to the underground tunnels, while those who have never faced the saga will be able to discover the events that gave life to one of the most beloved first-person shooter series ever, perhaps in preparation for METRO 2039, the next chapter to be released on February 4th. More information on the update and the new episode are available on the official website and on the social channels of the series.

The development of METRO continues between Malta and Ukraine, despite the full-scale invasion by Russia. 4A Games continues to support its country and the team members working there in any way possible, and invites those who want to help to contribute through United24, the official Ukrainian fundraising platform.
