Halo Infinite: the open world will unlock progressively during the campaign

After learning that, in Halo Infinite, the ring will have an open world structure in which we can go almost anywhere we want, today we discover further information about the structure of the game: as we imagined ourselves, the entire ring will not be available from the beginning of the game but will consist of a series of areas that will become accessible as we progress through the history of the Campaign.

In an interview with the American website Destructoid, associate creative director Paul Crocker explained that as we progress in the history of the game new areas will be unlocked, and once unlocked we can return to the already unlocked areas to explore them further. So the structure is open world, but the plot of the game will prevent us from reaching areas that we haven't "discovered" yet, probably to avoid discovering things that have yet to be told.

As for why we might want to return to the areas already explored, there will of course be many secondary missions to be expected and also events/expansions that as the 343 team will add, but there is also another reason: the in-depth exploration of the ring will allow us to discover new equipment that will equip Master Chief with new capabilities; It will not only be weapons or offensive abilities, but also new possibilities for players to do things differently.

All this - the structure open to progressive unlocking and the acquisition of new abilities - makes us a suspicion: what if Halo Infinite had a metroidvaniastructure ? It would be a welcome novelty for the series!
