CD Projekt RED has officially confirmed the launch window of the highly anticipated The Witcher IV, revealing that the new chapter of the famous saga will arrive on our XBOX consoles during 2028. The announcement was accompanied by important news about the future of the franchise, including the confirmation of Ciri as the protagonist of the new adventure.

Through a message addressed to enthusiasts, the co-CEO of the studio Michal Nowakowski wanted to take stock of the situation on the projects in the pipeline. Although the wait for The Witcher IV is still long and the game will not be present at this year's Gamescom, the team has assured that patience will be amply rewarded. There are currently over 500 developers working to bring to life what has been bluntly defined as the biggest, bravest and most ambitious title ever created by the Polish software house.

This new episode will kick off a completely new saga with Ciri as the protagonist. From the point of view of mechanics and setting, in The Witcher IV we will be able to explore a vast and engaging open world, where we will face intense and action-packed combat. During our journey we will also experience a deep and impactful story, designed to remain etched in our memory for a long time.

While waiting to find out more details about the fourth episode, fans of The Witcher will still have a lot to discover in the near future. Nowakowski has in fact invited everyone to follow the Opening Night Live on August 25 at 20:00 where The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past, a major expansion coming in 2027, will be shown. For the occasion, the studio will set up an impressive booth at the German fair where a first complete look at the new content will be offered, allowing us to savor the dark atmospheres of the unpublished plot. Special daily live broadcasts will also be held throughout the event by the development team, during which a couple of unexpected surprises may be revealed.
