Bungie today revealed important updates regarding Marathon, the new sci-fi extraction shooter coming on March 5th. The studio has in fact confirmed the details for an upcoming free trial period and has published an unreleased trailer that delves into the story and setting of the game, also confirming full support for cross-play and cross-save on all platforms.

The main news concerns the announcement of the "Server Slam", an open preview event that will allow all players to try the title in preview. The servers will be accessible from February 26 (from 19:00 Italian time) until March 2 (at 19:00). This testing phase will introduce us to the game mechanics by offering a limited selection of maps, Runner shells and contracts; additional content, including new factions and equipment, will then be made available at official launch and during Season 1.

Participating in the Server Slam will not only be a way to test the servers, but it will also allow us to earn rewards. By completing the introductory quest during the event, we will unlock a special emblem and banner to commemorate participation. In addition, Bungie has confirmed that the time spent in the game will be recognized: we will be able to earn tiered equipment packs for the launch on March 5, which will include weapons, implants and other useful items to face our first races.

For those who are not informed about the title, in Marathon we will have to explore the lost colony of Tau Ceti IV as bio-cybernetic runners. Our goal will be to seek our fortune by surviving hostile security forces, unpredictable environments and, of course, rival Runners.
