Microsoft is preparing to open Xbox Cloud Gaming to all Game Pass subscriptions

Microsoft has announced an important news, for now only for members of the Xbox Insider program but also coming for everyone: in addition to the Ultimate subscription, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service will also be available for subscribers to Game Pass Core and Game Pass Standard.

But that's not all: Microsoft is also starting to experiment with streaming PC titles. Insiders can in fact, from the Xbox PC app (on PC or even Windows mobile devices) now play a series of PC titles in streaming, a very useful option for those who have hardware not suitable for running them natively. This news is very important, because it means that, in addition to servers based on Xbox hardware, Microsoft is also starting to introduce those based on gaming PC hardware on the Cloud, on a par with Nvidia's GeForce NOW service. Definitely a first step towards the future "Xbox PC" also on the cloud.

As for Xbox Game Cloud for consoles, however, until today, the ability to stream the titles in the catalog without having to download them was an exclusive reserved only for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. Thanks to this new test phase, even Insider users with lower-end subscriptions will be able to access the service from PC, browser or TV, simply by logging in on the Xbox website or through dedicated apps. This will allow us to instantly launch the games in the catalog wherever we are.

As anticipated, at the moment it is a feature limited to the Xbox Insider program only, whose purpose is precisely to test new features and updates before public release. However, the initiative bodes well that, once the trial phase is over, access to cloud gaming can be extended in the future to all Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers.
