Diablo is finally coming to Diablo IV next week
In fact, on September 15 its fifteenth season of the game will begin , baptized Season of Hell's Legacy, and it does so by finally putting at our disposal the most coveted target of all: Diablo itself, which after a long wait we will be able to face directly.
Accompanying him there will be two other figures that anyone who has attended the saga will recognize on the fly, namely Mephisto and Baal: a trio of Prime Evils that alone is enough to frame the ambitions of this update. It is no coincidence, after all, that the season coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the brand, defined by Blizzard as "the fulcrum of the celebrations for the thirty years of Diablo".
The seasonal quest line is built around this anniversary and will take us through a sort of living story of the previous chapters, re-proposed and reconstructed within the fourth episode. Between one assignment and another we will cross the memories of legendary heroes and sadly famous enemies, descending into the folds of the tormented past of Sanctuary.
On the more practical front, the update puts its hand on the endgame cycle to make it more solid, expands customization options and introduces a series of new crafting recipes related to the Horadrim Cube, as well as a package of quality of life improvements. Added to this are an unprecedented seasonal progression, exclusive rewards to unlock, new skills, cosmetic items and free content distributed through Twitch Drops and unlocks reserved for those who are subscribed to XBOX Game Pass.
It remains to be seen how much all this will weigh on the overall narrative: Diablo's entry could represent the beginning of the end for Sanctuary and for what little good is left in the world, also given what has been revealed for Diablo V, set in a post-apocalyptic scenario in which the world is now devastated and the Lord of Terror has won definitively.
