Dragon Quest III returns in an HD remake with octopath traveler engine

Square Enix and developers AMATA KK + Team Asano announced Dragon Quest III HD-2D Console Remake during the 35th anniversary live stream of the Dragon Questsaga. It is a complete remake of the game that abandons the old 2D graphics for an isometric 3D view made with the already excellent engine of Octopath Traveler.

Manufacturer Masaaki Hayasaki said the HD-2D style the team is using combines pixel art with 3D effects to produce a unique sense of depth and atmosphere.

"Our hope is that by recreating Dragon Quest III in this HD-2D style, everyone will have the chance toexperience the game with new eyes, from the adults who played the original when it was first released, to the young children who will play it for the first time."

No release date has been announced, but a simultaneous release is planned worldwide. Following the first video released on the occasion of the announcement.
