BioWare throws in the towel: Anthem 2.0 won't happen again

It's been just over a year - it was February 10, 2020 - since BioWare announced the start of a lengthy anthem makeover and renovation development that would lead to a 2.0 version, or "Next" as they call it, that would completely revolutionize the game to bring it more in line with fan expectations.

If you were among those waiting for this makeover, unfortunately we have bad news for you: the studio has in fact just announced that it has stopped the development of this version of the game, moving programmers and creatives to the new Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

In the press release the developers explain that the past year has been very difficult due to the global pandemic, which has made it very difficult to work on the game; this was cited as the main reason for the stop to development, although it is evident that there was no more confidence in the project and, perhaps, BioWare and EA had realized that it was now lost hopelessly regardless of the result of this restoration effort.

We will therefore have to resign ourselves to saying goodbye to one of the most interesting video game concepts of recent years, the "Iron Man game" that we all wanted to have, but also one of the most egregious wasted opportunities in the history of video games.

We now wish BioWare developers the best of their life with the new projects in development: don't let us down, guys!
