Michel Ancel leaves Ubisoft and video game development, but production of BG&E2 continues

Famous game designer Michel Ancel, creator of Rayman, the hugely popular Rabbids and the Beyond Good and Evilseries, announced on Instagram the decision to leave Ubisoft and the world of video games to devote himself to his second great passion, wildlife. Ancel will now set out to create an"outdoor wildlife sanctuary" and educate the public in relation to it.

Ancel clarifies, however, that the projects he was working on, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and super-deferred WiLD,will not be impacted by this decision, as they are now well started and have very competent teams behind them. Despite this, it is impossible not to worry about the future of these titles: the departure of the creator and creative engine of a project is never an event without repercussions.

We also wonder whether his decision is not due to the many scandals (linked to allegations of sexism, harassment and mismanagement in general) that have been investing so many French publisher studios lately and which have already seen the departure of prominent figures, including AC Valhalla creative director Ashallhraf Ismail. That Ancel wanted to distance himself from an increasingly toxic environment?
