You have pre-bought Halo 5: Guardians? 343 warns about a possible problem

If you are among those who have pre-purchased digitally in advance Halo 5: Guardians , you might run into an annoying download problem if your Xbox One are not turned off in quick start mode. 343 Industries is to alert us of the problem: those who bought the game before the September 21 and has always had the console off completely, i.e. energy saving, might not have the correct hard disk image of the game but a "placeholder" files released prior to the pre-load.

If you have made the purchase on September 21 or later, or you have always had the console on the quick launch, you'll be fine.

In the first case, you may have to delete and reinstall the game. This is the procedure to be done to see if this is your case:

  • Go to the "my games & apps"
  • Order the titles shown for installation size
  • If your copy of Halo 5: Guardians is larger than 40 GB, then you have the correct version and all you have to do
  • If your copy is less than 40 GB, then you have the placeholder file and you need to reinstall it. The reinstallation procedure is explained in this page .
