Spencer: performance increase with Kinect connected, surprise after E3 Conference

The new head of Xbox Phil Spencer is appreciated by fans not only because it's veering with Xbox One conviction in the direction of hardcore gamers, but also because it is very active on Twitter , often answering questions from fans. And here he clarified some doubts regarding announced performance improvement of the console.

Some sites have erroneously reported that the performance increase will be possible thanks to the new version of Xbox Kinect, One without pushing some into thinking that the console with Kinect would not have enjoyed this improvement. Obviously this does not correspond to reality, because Microsoft had announced this feature already last October, before the launch of the console and when it was not yet in their intentions to remove Kinect from commercial offer.

Spencer explains better how this will work: will not disconnect the Kinect because they will be the games themselves to decide to "exclude it" via software, thereby freeing that 10% GPU that is now used for the recognition routine movements and put it at the disposal of the graphics processing. The manager also explained that when we move to the home of the Xbox One, the motion control will be reactivated only to be deactivated again when we return to the game, whether it's a title that makes use of this feature. Furthermore this exclusion of non-impact Kinect voice recognition: you can continue to use commands like "Xbox, registers this element" even in games that profit growth's performance.

Besides this good Phil also alluded to the fact that, after the Conference E3 Monday 9, Microsoft will do something again that fans should find "special". For now we do not know if it will be something that will also involve users at home (releasing content on Xbox Live? Maybe some demos of the games shown?) or if it is an event reserved for guests of the Conference in Los Angeles. We will update you when new information comes to light.
