Still rumor on Xbox Lite: a mini console for 2013

It is undeniable that Microsoft wants to make the Xbox more than just a gaming device and in this context is an interesting rumor released today by the American website The Verge and that relates to previous entries about the arrival in 2013 of a "Lite" or "Xbox Xbox TV" designed as a low cost version of the next Xbox and dedicated primarily to casual gaming and multimedia features (titles in digital delivery).

The site claims to have had confirmation from multiple sources familiar with Redmond plans that this cross between gaming console and multimedia set-top box is actually in preparation and will be unveiled in 2013 with release scheduled for the end of the year, alongside the new Next Gen console.

According to The Verge, this "Xbox TV" will be proposed as a sort of second choice to launch the next Xbox: while the major version will have all the characteristics of a gaming and multimedia console, the "lite" model comes in most product range dedicated to the enjoyment of multimedia content such as movies and television programs costing much less and of course offering casual game experiences instead of full games.

You do not know the hardware specifications for now, yet you think this device will be equipped with "always on" feature, so as to be always connected to the network and you can pause and restart at any time whatever you're doing. Of course to do that the hardware will be extremely lightweight and low consumption, something akin to what we would expect to find in a tablet.

Obviously the next-gen Xbox in "full" version will have all the multimedia features of the younger sister, but will have a much more powerful hardware to meet the needs of hardcore gamers.

As was expected, when questioned in this regard Microsoft has not released nor statements, however, denied the rumors surfaced. All surely there will be revealed at E3 2013, which is shaping up as the most important videogame event in recent years.
