Asha Sharma: Xbox Game Pass has become too expensive, a new solution is being sought

In recent months we have seen significant price increases for Microsoft's subscription service, with increases that less than a year ago reached 50% for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and also significantly affected the other plans. Apparently, however, the company's top management is realizing the impact of these maneuvers: the new CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma, has in fact bluntly admitted that the service is currently too expensive for users.

In a recent internal communication sent to employees and reported by The Verge, Sharma explained that management is looking for a solution that guarantees better value for members. The message emphasizes how Xbox Game Pass remains a central element for the Xbox ecosystem, but clarifies that the current business model cannot be considered definitive. Since costs have become too high in the short term, the immediate goal is to rebalance supply; Looking at the long term, however, the intention is to evolve the subscription towards a much more flexible system, a process that will require time and several phases of testing.

While Microsoft's exact plans are not yet known, speculation about the company's future moves is becoming more and more insistent. Curiously, none of these consider a simple price cut for now: the most recent rumors rather speak of the introduction of new subscription levels, including a tier that would include exclusively first-party titles. In addition to this, another rumor suggests that in the future the new iterations of Call of Duty may no longer arrive within the catalog from launch day.

We will see what the new CEO's real intentions are and how these statements translate into concrete changes for our portfolios.
