ONL: announced 1001 Threads of Mizan, trailer

The Opening Night Live of Gamescom brought with it the presentation of 1001 Threads of Mizan, an action adventure that draws heavily from the imagery of the Arabian Nights and Arab folklore. This is the first ever project of MBC Game Studio, which with this title focuses on a world entirely built by hand, boss fights of colossal dimensions and a structure designed from the ground up to be faced in company.

The narrative revolves around Shahrazad, the famous weaver of stories, which brings together three heroes as different as they are improbable: Yusra, Malik and Sufyan. Their task will be to bring to light the lost power of the Mizan and stop an ancient king of the jinn before his thirst for revenge falls on all of humanity.

The journey can be shared by up to three participants thanks to a drop-in, drop-out cooperative system, which will allow us to join the game or leave it at any time. The real heart of the experience, however, is the flying carpet: it will be thanks to it that we will be able to soar through the skies, move quickly through the game world and face jinn of enormous proportions together. The developers emphasize how this movement system opens the way to narrative and playful possibilities otherwise unthinkable, returning a constant sense of speed and adventure.

"We are incredibly proud to announce 1001 Threads of Mizan, a true labor of love inspired by the rich Arabian folklore of the Arabian Nights and beyond," said Daniel Engelhardt, CEO of MBC Game Studio. "With a fast-paced travel system that combines mastery on the ground and in the air, colossal clashes against massive jinn creatures and immersive exploration, this game is designed to capture the beauty and spirit of timeless stories in a heroic experience to share with friends."

Creative director Lars Bonde also spoke about the concept behind the project: "Our vision started from a simple question: what if you could experience a boundless adventure in the great tradition of single player blockbusters, but in a fully cooperative way with your friends?". Bonde explains that the inspiration comes from the generation that grew up in shared and social worlds, and that the goal is to bring that sense of connection within a rapid and concrete combat system, capable of holding its own against the expectations of the cooperative audience while exploring the depth of a folklore that intertwines fantasy, history and culture.

Behind the game there is an international team, led by Engelhardt himself together with the director of operations Trevor Williams, and made up of professionals from companies such as BioWare, Hi-Rez, Ubisoft Montréal and Bungie, with a wealth of experience ranging from gameplay design to world building to creative development.

We now leave you to the announcement trailer.
