Control RESONANT: first gameplay, fight details and confirmed release in 2026

Remedy Entertainment has finally released the first concrete details on the gameplay of Control RESONANT, the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning sci-fi title that made us explore all the twists and turns of the Oldest House. The Finnish studio has shown the game in action with a new trailer, confirming the launch in 2026 and revealing the news that will characterize this new supernatural adventure.

In this sequel we will play the role of Dylan Faden, brother of the protagonist of the first game, who will find himself acting in a distorted and corrupt version of Manhattan. The exploration will take us to the "West Incursion Zone", a vast area full of secondary activities where reality is collapsing under the pressure of cosmic forces. We will have to learn to move in environments that no longer respect the laws of physics, going through the so-called "Gravitational Anomalies" in which orientation and gravity itself constantly change, transforming the city into a real geophysical nightmare.

The centerpiece of the new combat system will be the "Aberrant," a shape-shifting melee weapon of otherworldly origin. Unlike the Service Weapon of the first chapter, focused on ranged fire, the Aberrant will allow us to transform the weapon in different configurations, offering us a versatile set of tools to customize our style of play. As we progress in the adventure, we will be able to unlock new forms for the weapon, as well as talents and paranormal abilities that will help us manage the chaos of the clashes.

These powers will be indispensable to face the "Resonants", powerful bosses who represent the corrupted remains of individuals with great power. Defeating these threats will not only serve to advance the story, but will allow us to expand our supernatural arsenal by acquiring new combat skills directly from downed enemies.

The title is co-financed and co-produced by Annapurna Pictures and promises to take us not only through a ruined New York, but also into mysterious metaphysical spaces that reflect Dylan's tormented psyche. We just have to wait for 2026 to be able to get our hands on the game; In the meantime, here's the new trailer showing the mechanics in action.
