The Coalition: GoW E-Day is the studio's most ambitious, launch confirmed in 2026

While fans are eagerly awaiting more information about the new title in the saga, the development team The Coalition has provided a brief but promising update on Gears of War: E-Day, bluntly defining it as the most ambitious title ever created by the studio.

The information comes directly from an end-of-year article published by Xbox, in which several development teams discussed upcoming projects. Among them was Mike Crump, Studio Head of The Coalition, who confirmed a launch window set for 2026. This date is no coincidence: next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the series, born in 2006, and the team can't wait to celebrate this anniversary with the release of the prequel.

Crump explained that Gears of War: E-Day was built entirely from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. The goal of the developers is very clear: to create an experience that returns the classic feeling of Gears, but at the same time offers a completely new and modern gameplay. The game will mark a return to basics, allowing us to face the Locusts for the first time as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago.

According to the studio, this chapter will also represent the ideal entry point for those who have never approached the Gears universe. While no new trailers or gameplay sequences have been shown since the 2024 announcement, The Coalition has promised that it will share more details over the next year, ensuring that the game will live up to the expectations generated by such a major project. Could the Developer_Direct announced for January be the right time to have news on the game? We just have to wait to find out!
