Flight Simulator takes us to the skies of Japan
The result of the collaboration with Bing Maps, Gaya and Asobo, the update is one of the largest ever made for the title and aims to bring the Land of the Rising Sun to life like never before. We'll be able to fly over breathtaking views, from the peaks of towering mountains such as Mount Fuji to the iconic architecture and skylines of cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Sapporo. The update includes 23 areas of interest recreated with updated photogrammetry and texturing of TIN surfaces; among the cities that benefit from these improvements are Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka, Sapporo and Tokyo.
The update also introduces 67 points of interest, including Osaka Castle, one of Japan's most important historical landmarks, the Acinada Suspension Bridge, the Shosanbetsu Astronomical Observatory, and the Fukuoka Tower, the country's tallest coastal tower. In addition, five airports handcrafted by long-time partner Gaya were included: Hokkaido Spaceport, Kitakyushu Airport, Rishiri Airport, Sado Airport and Satsuma Iōjima Airport.
To fully immerse ourselves in the beauty and history of Japan, the update also includes new missions available on both Flight Simulator 2020 and Flight Simulator 2024. We'll find three discovery flights (Chubu-Sanbaku National Park, Kyoto and Sapporo), three landing challenges, a bush trip from Mount Fuji to Mount Yōtei and a special event. A low-altitude challenge on Tsushima Island and a rally race in Setonaikai National Park have also been added exclusively for Flight Simulator 2024 .
World Update 20: Japan is free for all Microsoft Flight Simulator owners. To download it, you need to make sure that you have updated the simulator to the latest version and then proceed to download the update from the internal marketplace.
We leave you to the trailer that shows us the new content: enjoy!
