Onimusha: Way of the Sword shows itself in a new trailer dedicated to the story
The story will see us take on the role of the protagonist Miyamoto Musashi upon his arrival in Kyoto, where we will be immediately attacked by the demonic Genma. When we reach the point of death, we will receive an Oni glove as a gift that will give us the power necessary to face the monstrosities coming from the underworld. However, as warriors eager to forge our own destiny, we will look for a way to break free from the bond with this mystical artifact.
During our trip we will meet new friends such as Izumo no Okuni and Ono no Takamura, characters inspired by real Japanese historical figures. Guided by the mysterious voice of the Oni woman inside the glove, we'll be led by Takamura, a venerable swordsman who also owns an iron glove, and cross paths with Okuni, a famous artist known for her Kabuki dance, who left the scene to find a way to defeat the Genma.
The trailer also offers us some flashes of gameplay in which we face enemies on the streets of Kyoto; among these we are shown the Togemaru, a serpentine Genma equipped with thorns that launches itself at high speed to disembowel its victims. While we'll be reluctant to accept the gift of the Oni gauntlet, we'll have to learn how to harness its power to get the better of such formidable foes.
We remind you that Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected in 2026; We leave you with the trailer and a rich set of images.
