Bethesda returns to mention the next Starfield update, no date yet

Bethesda has spoken again about the next expansion of Starfield, but once again it has done so without providing concrete details. This is the third time the studio has mentioned the DLC, fueling anticipation and even some frustration among fans, who have long been waiting for news on the future of the space RPG.

The latest mention comes from a recent "developer spotlight" with Tim Lamb, a veteran of Bethesda since 2006. During the interview, Lamb spoke about the future of the game, saying that the team has "cool stuff" in store, including free updates, player-requested features, and a "new DLC story." While he couldn't reveal more, he did add an interesting detail: part of the team focused on space gameplay to make travel between stars more rewarding.

This isn't the first time we've heard about new content. As early as June 2024, Todd Howard had confirmed the development of another expansion, and in March 2025 the Bethesda team had anticipated the arrival of "exciting things" for the current year, but without being able to discuss them. Now we are approaching September and we still don't have any concrete information, unlike what happened with the first expansion, Shattered Space, whose details had been revealed months before its launch in September 2024.

The wait is therefore getting longer and longer and Bethesda's silence begins to worry part of the community, which speculates possible difficulties in development. As the months go by, so does Todd Howard's promise of "one big expansion per year for Starfield." We just have to wait for an official announcement that can finally shed light on what awaits us in the next chapter of Bethesda's space adventure.
