Wargaming.net, creators of World of Tanks as well as many other war series, today announced World of Tanks: HEAT, an arcade and much more fast-paced version of their tank fighting title.

World of Tanks: HEAT is a free-to-play tactical shooter that combines tank combat with hero shooter mechanics, offering a whole new perspective on the franchise.

Set in an alternate post-World War II era, the game will see us engaged in fast-paced 10v10 battles in command of hero-powered tanks. As elite agents, we will pilot these experimental war machines, each with unique abilities and special powers. We will be able to thoroughly customize each vehicle with advanced armaments, armor modules and abilities capable of altering the outcome of the battle, thus shaping the equipment according to our style of play.

World of Tanks: HEAT will include several game modes that adapt classic shooters, such as Kill Confirmed and Conquest, into a tank experience. All this has been done with a new Wargaming proprietary game engine, which promises high-end graphics and dynamic visual effects.

The title is Wargaming's first to be released simultaneously on all platforms, with full support for cross-play and shared progression. The studio also called the game a "free-to-win", where success is determined by skill and monetization focuses on cosmetic elements and battle passes.
