Sony announces the arrival of Helldivers II on Xbox, at the end of August
Since its initial launch in February 2024, the game has received an incredibly positive reception, quickly establishing itself as one of the best shooters on the market. Arrowhead's constant support, with updates and new content, has kept the community active and involved in the fight for Super Earth.
The game is already available for pre-order on the Store and, important news, it will have full cross-play support on all platforms: we will therefore be able to join our friends on PC and PlayStation to defend intergalactic democracy.
Mikael Eriksson, game director of Helldivers 2, commented on the news as follows: "We know that players have been asking for this for a long time and we are excited to bring more Helldivers to our game. We have a lot more in store for the months and years to come, and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun."
The title still enjoys enormous popularity today, with around 2.5 million weekly players registered in May. Recently, the Arrowhead team also joked about a difficult period for the game, hinting at the return of the "Review Bomb Cloak", a cosmetic item created in response to community protests over a controversial obligation to link to the PlayStation Network account, which was later retired.
This announcement is therefore a first indication of Sony's willingness to open up to Xbox with multiplatform publishing: for now obviously only on multiplayer titles, but in the future who knows.
So we just have to wait for August 26 to enlist in the ranks of the Helldivers and fight for the Super Earth; in the meantime here is the announcement trailer of the Xbox edition.
