Rumor: dates and prices of ROG Xbox Ally consoles/laptops leak

After the official announcement of a new line of ASUS branded Xbox portable hardware, the first concrete rumors about the release dates and prices of the ROG Xbox Ally and its enhanced version, the ROG Xbox Ally X, arrive today. A new leak, coming from the insider eXtas1s citing sources from European retailers, seems to have revealed the launch window and prices of the two upcoming devices.

According to what the insider revealed, we won't have to wait long: pre-orders for both portable consoles should open in August 2025 (perhaps at gamescom?), with an official launch scheduled for October.

The leak also goes so far as to reveal the possible prices for the European market: there is talk of €599 for ROG Xbox Ally, while the more performing ROG Xbox Ally X should cost €899. If this is true, they do not seem to be exaggerated prices for what will be to all intents and purposes gaming PCs, capable of running both AAA titles on the Xbox Store PC, Steam or other stores.

In fact, as already revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, these will not be consoles limited to cloud gaming only, but real portable gaming PCs based on Windows. This means that we will have the ability to natively install and run our entire library of PC titles, including of course the games in the PC Game Pass catalog. The differences between the two models would lie mainly in the processor and storage, with the Ally X model that will mount an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip and 1TB of memory.

The news, although not yet confirmed, appears quite credible, so much so that there is already talk of the possibility of trying out the devices during gamescom 2025. For now, however, we just have to treat this information as rumors and wait for an official announcement from Microsoft and ASUS.
