Obsidian reveals Pentiment, a narrative adventure in a medieval picture book

At the Xbox Showcase Obsidian revealed the rumored Pentiment, described as a narrative adventure and represented graphically as the illustrations of ancient medieval books. This is the new project of Josh Sawyer and a small team of Obsidian veterans, something that will surely make people talk about itself.

The game is coming in November, of course also in Game Pass. Here are the first official information and the announcement trailer.

In Pentiment you play Andreas Maler, a traveling artist who works in the scriptorium of Kiersau Abbey in a period of great social unrest. As he finishes his masterpiece, Andreas inadvertently becomes embroiled in a series of murders that take place over 25 years. Peasants, thieves, artisans, monks, nuns, nobles and even saints must be investigated and interrogated to find out the truth.

It will be up to the players to decide Andreas' choices, from his studies, to his lifestyle, to the way he investigates murders. One day he may be busy unearthing a dead monk in the abbey cemetery, while the next may be dedicated to eavesdropping on peasant gossip at the ladies' spinning mill. Every decision taken and accusation made has consequences that will have repercussions on the close-knit Alpine community for generations to come.
