Guns of Eschaton: the first-person soulslike western arrives on December 8

There are less than two months left for the debut of Guns of Eschaton, the soulslike first-person shooter set in an Old West on the brink of the end of the world: publisher 4Divinity and studio Eschatology Entertainment have in fact presented a new trailer, setting the release of the game on December 8, 2026.

At the heart of the game's experience is a combat system that rewards mastery and patience more than reflexes. In the role of a mysterious gunslinger we will have to carefully manage ammunition that is always scarce, study the right moment to strike and rely on parries calculated to the millimeter. Before even aiming, it will be essential to prepare: the Codex will allow us to analyze enemies and discover their weak points, while a series of mystical powers granted by the occult will expand our options in battle. The idea of the developers is to take the principles of two consolidated genres, the first-person shooter and the soulslike, and rebuild them around a single philosophy, where precision, knowledge of weapons and enemies, resource management and timing count as much as pulling the trigger.

There is also ample space for character customization, with deep progression and very flexible buildcrafting. We will be able to experiment with a vast arsenal of firearms, different types of ammunition, occult powers, talismans, armor and consumables, combining active and passive skills in search of effective synergies. Along the way we will also have the opportunity to learn lethal tricks from legendary gunslingers. Weapons, equipment, exploration and personal choices will thus allow everyone to face the game world and its challenges in very different ways.

The journey, called the Hound's Path, will take us from East to West through an imaginary and dying nineteenth-century America, inhabited by strange factions and occult horrors. We will pass through ruined settlements and deadly wastelands, conquering every pass with difficulty and only rarely finding a few moments of respite, even if survival will always hang by a thread. However, every battle won will bring us closer to home.

The art direction is signed by the late Viktor Antonov, who gave the game a visual identity in which the imagery of the nineteenth-century frontier collides with occult horror, mythology, religion and the supernatural. Iconic historical figures and mythical archetypes of the Far West are reinterpreted within this apocalyptic Weird West, in which the Old West burns in the Apocalypse.

The adventure can be lived entirely in single player or in two-player co-op, with complete progression in both cases. Alone it will be a personal test of skill, while in the company of an ally it will become a different experience, built on coordination and shared survival.

Waiting for December 8th, we leave you to the new trailer. Enjoy the viewing!
