Rumor: Amazon aims to acquire the Microsoft Xbox

There's rumor and rumor and this is one of those less substantive and more improbable that there may be, but let's talk for talk's sake. Pete " Famousmortimer " Dodd, insider known to have leaked in the past information on PS4 and Xbox One, said in a tweet that Microsoft and Amazon would have started negotiations over the possible sale of the entire Xbox from the first to the second company.

The thing might have some basis in fact: many investors would like to see that Microsoft is free in the industry dedicated to home entertainment to focus on its core business, i.e. the production of software and services, while Amazon wants to get of arrogance in the market of gaming: there are rumors on the production of a console based on Android and is recent news the acquisition of Double Helix, developers of Killer Instinct.

But how realistic is such a hypothesis? Not much really: Microsoft knows that the home computing has changed dramatically since the PC dominated the homes all over the world, today more and more people use tablets, smartphones and TVs to make things that were previously possible only with PCs. Then the Xbox comes with Windows Phone and tablet Surface, move the business strategy where are the money of consumers.

That said, you can also a scenario in which Microsoft steps around the Xbox business to Amazon, but signing a contract of mutual exclusivity that keeps the platform still strongly linked to the services of the House of Redmond, for example by preventing the replacement of Google with Bing, and so on.

For now, a simple tweet is a weaker type rumor that there is: we develop, always make sure that there are.
