New information from Microsoft on Xbox One SmartGlass

Microsoft has released on Xbox Wire an interesting article on what's new in SmartGlass for Xbox One . First, it confirmed the support of app on Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, iOS and Android, and we discover that you can connect a maximum of 16 devices to the same console: this could create multiplayer scenarios where one or more players use the standard controller, while others interact in any way with your device.

A novelty is also very important for the speed of response, critical for interaction scenarios in real-time as in games: while the current application interacts with Xbox 360, passing through a central server at Microsoft, the Xbox One app will speak directly with the console using our home network (WiFi or LAN), thus increasing the responsiveness to our commands.

A very interesting feature is the ability to carry out research on the matchmaking SmartGlass console we are doing other things: for example, if we wanted to try a little game popular on Battlefield 4 so your search may take a while, we could start on our device while on Xbox One we are maybe playing Dead Rising 3 , or watching TV. This is a feature also available directly on the console, but it provides additional SmartGlass option.

Still, another novelty is a contextual help system for games: Microsoft is working with several developers to create content that can be invoked when players are in trouble. The app will know at all times the point of the game where the player is located and will show more aid.

All this adds to the already SmartGlass notes: the ability to control the console interface, read and send messages, browse and shop on the Games Store, check TV and Hi-Fi systems via the Kinect IR Blaster and also watch gameplay videos uploaded by our friends or ourselves thanks to the GameDVR feature of the Xbox One. Of course, the possibility remains for games, using the application as a "second screen" to view additional information or offer further possibilities for gameplay, just like they'll Dead Rising 3 and Ryse . In short, if you have a smartphone or tablet is very likely that you will use during your experience of using the Xbox One.
