The "Golden Dragon", the Italian game premium

AESVI, video game Developers Italian Publishers Association, announced the birth of the "Golden Dragon", the official award dedicated to excellence in the world of video games in Italy. The "Golden Dragon" is inspired by major industry awards and renowned in other countries, such as the American Interactive Achievement Awards or Golden Joystick Awards and British BAFTA Video Games Awards. All publisher and developer active in Italy or Italian can compete, applying their best titles come out in 2012 in one or more categories. AESVI, the Trade Association of the videogame industry, is pleased to announce that from today the Italy will get your prize dedicated to excellence in the world of video games. Golden Dragon is the name chosen by the Organisation for this project that aims to become a reference point for the dissemination of knowledge of the game and for its recognition as a means of cultural and artistic expression in our country.

The award has two prestigious partnership with Media World, the first consumer electronics chain in Italy, and with the first site, Repubblica.it, that among the different activities that take place in support of the project will give a unique opportunity for its users to vote on the competing titles through their Internet sites.

The project, presented last night in Milan, is inspired by important models that give luster to the culture of the game internationally, including for example the BAFTA and the Joystick Awards in Britain, and aims to help spread also in Italy the same approach up towards the middle.The Golden Dragon has three groups of awards categories that will be voted on by three separate juries. A jury chaired by Paul Spagnoli, Product Manager of Videogame Media World, and composed by journalists from the trade press that elects the best games in the genre.

A critic's jury chaired by Jaime D'alessandro, journalist of La Repubblica, and composed of journalists from major news magazines (Corriere della Sera, Il Sole 24 Ore, printing, Gazzetta dello Sport) and personalities from the world of culture and showbiz that will assess the artistic and cultural value of the nominated titles. Finally, a jury composed of all the public who want to participate that will decide the best game ever for the 2012. In addition, to make the public role, there will be the possibility for users to apply to become the "popular jury", through a selection that will allow a hard core gamer to represent gamers inside the critic's jury. Starting today, Friday, 14 December, until February 15, 2013 the jury will be able to participate in the selection of the "game of the year" which will be chosen exclusively by the public, and may also vote the best video games for each platform. The other two juries, criticism and technique will work, however, with the new year, ahead of the final award ceremony scheduled for March in which will be announced the winners of each category of awards.

The project is a well-deserved visibility even the videogame Made in Italy creativity with an exclusive prize "Best Independent Game Italian" that is decreed by the critic's jury.
