It seems like yesterday and instead it's been 10 years now since that October 26, 2002, when MondoXbox appeared on the web. Then the online communities and forums were much less popular today, and many of the discussions between fans took on the Usenet newsgroup; right here, in microsoft.public.it channel. xbox, is where it all began.

The newsgroup is dedicated to the Microsoft console, in fact, I met Matthew "Cubiq game": the first had a passion to find and report the news, while the second was a Wizard of web design and creation of web sites. The two decided to open a site dedicated to the Microsoft console, out for the past 6 months on Italian soil. The first version of the site was very different from what you see today, created as a simple graphic customization of Xoops CMS with a theme "deep green", in line with the colors of the console.

So it was enough to begin to attract the first fans, creating a hard core of followers, some of whom also began to collaborate with the site as newser or reviewers. After a year, in November 2003, a real revolution: Xoops, reschedules website from the ground up to meet the requirements of publication of gaming news and receive a brand new graphics, with the warhead to "ondina" that will accompany us later for many years. On that occasion opens also the forums, so far away, and the community exploded. But not only that: in the first year of life the site became so popular that our small, inexpensive servers could barely withstand the load of all visitors; rent a dedicated and most powerful was unfortunately beyond our ability-they talked about several thousand euros a year--but fortunately we received the help of Headlines , the gaming site of Tiscali, which we hosted on its servers as rib dedicated to Xbox. For about a year and a half we enjoyed the hospitality of friends of GS with the address mondoxbox.gamesurf.it, and meanwhile our popularity grew even further until, in the spring of 2005, we decided that the success of the site was now such that we can finance with advertising renting a server worthy of this name. We started to walk again with our legs.

From then on, as they say, the rest is history: the site has seen a steady growth in popularity that features, enriching of the willing collaborators until today rely on the help of a few dozen fans. The community grew more and more, first in the forum and then home again with the introduction of the comments, for some in a small family that also saw the birth of solid friendships. Even the satisfactions there are missing: participation in important events like the GamesCom and E3, the respect of the editors that often send us games to try in advance to allow us to give you our impressions and especially the many attestations of esteem that we receive from our users make us understand that, while remaining a basically amateur, MondoXbox became in these 10 years in something very important for us that for many of you.
