Bethesda officially confirms the development of the Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters

After months of rumors and speculation, Bethesda has officially broken the silence by confirming that the remastered versions of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are currently in development. The revelation comes directly from the top of the company, thus turning the numerous rumors circulating in the last period into reality.

The long-awaited confirmation came within a substantial company update focused on the studio's future projects, a communication released in the aftermath of the internal strikes and the recent wave of layoffs at XBOX, which directly impacted 440 employees in the ranks of Bethesda and ZeniMax. Within this scenario, the management wanted to take stock of the situation on what is brewing, officially unveiling the work on the two historic chapters.

The team has in fact stated that it is perfectly aware of how much many of us want to return to live the past adventures of the franchise. Although no official launch date has been announced at the moment, the studio has assured that work is proceeding at full speed to allow us to tread the iconic wastelands again and savor the unforgettable atmospheres of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas in a technically renewed guise. However, it has not been clarified if Bethesda is working personally on these projects, or if it is making use of external studios specialized in carrying out this type of operation.

This officialization legitimizes what emerged on the net already at the beginning of the year, when the rumors about the return of the third chapter had intensified following the appearance of the list of a line of toys, which included an article taken from the then rumored remastered edition. Although the modalities of this preliminary announcement may suggest a still long development, the hope remains open that we will be able to see the complete presentation, or perhaps the debut on the market, of at least one of the two projects as early as the end of this year.
