Guns of Eschaton: a trailer dedicated to co-op confirms the release by 2026
Developed by an international team of veterans, Guns of Eschaton does not want to be a simple sum of mechanics already seen, but an experience built from scratch around the encounter between the precision and immediacy of FPS and the reasoned combat, exploration, progression and buildcrafting typical of souls-like, all immersed in an original apocalyptic western universe.
The underlying philosophy is to make every single bullet count, including the bullets we decide not to fire. We will have to study what tries to kill us without ever having the feeling of knowing enough to feel safe: instead of swords there are old firearms and instead of the dragon a demonic train, but the principle remains the same, which is to understand the opponent as much as to master one's arsenal. Through the Codex we will be able to discover the weaknesses of the enemies, while in the clashes timing, calculated parries and the mystical abilities granted by the occult count.
Ample space is dedicated to customization: firearms, different types of ammunition, occult powers, talismans, armor, consumables and active and passive skills can be combined in highly personal builds, in search of effective synergies and lethal tricks learned from legendary gunslingers. There is no single path to become a legendary outlaw, and everyone will be able to face the world and its challenges in a radically different way.
The apocalypse, in any case, does not necessarily have to be faced alone. The game was born as an experience designed primarily for the single player, but the cooperative mode offers a different way of experiencing the journey, with complete progression and further replayability. Solo it is a personal test of mastery, while in company rhythm, strategies and tactics change, with the center of gravity shifting to coordination and shared survival; the challenge and the story remain the same, but the experience is transformed.
The visual identity is the true hallmark of the project. Antonov, a famous worldbuilder who helped define the worlds of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored among other titles, worked with the team at Eschatology Entertainment to build a visual language in which architecture, settings, characters, storytelling and game design are closely connected. The result is a hand-crafted world that takes the imagery of the nineteenth-century American frontier and transfigures it through occult horror, mythology, religion, history and the supernatural: a West that we recognize from movies, books and popular culture, but now enveloped in the flames of the apocalypse, to be crossed from East to West.
The game world, after all, is not a simple backdrop for clashes. Exploration, environmental storytelling, encounters and our decisions will progressively reveal what has happened to this frontier and what role we will play in its destiny.
We leave you now to the new trailer and a set of images, enjoy!
