Onimusha: Way of the Sword arrives in September, playable immediately in demo

Capcom has finally unveiled the official launch date for its long-awaited action title Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set for September 25. Coinciding with the announcement, a free trial version has been made available that will allow us to test the game's combat mechanics first-hand on our XBOX Series X|S.

The demo of Onimusha: Way of the Sword transports us directly to the historic Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Here we will have to face fiery battles against Musashi's destined rival, Sasaki Ganryu, experiencing firsthand the satisfying action system of the game. Those who decide to try this initial version will receive a special gift at the time of full launch: the "Kubi Akari" trinket. However, Capcom is keen to point out that the performance of this initial build does not yet reflect the final product, since the game will be subject to further optimizations.

In the meantime, a new video takes us to the discovery of Mount Oe, an unprecedented location located outside Kyoto. This place serves as a stronghold for a colossal Genma who claims to be the legendary Shuten Doji. As the protagonist Miyamoto Musashi, we will have to fight our way through the fortress's defenses using speed and supernatural strength. The trailer closes with a fascinating glimpse of Musashi's abilities, as he will channel all his power to transform and fully awaken as an Oni Warrior.

Pre-orders have also been opened, which will guarantee us exclusive content if we pre-order our copy in time. Specifically, we will get the skin for the "Sealed Curse" sword and the "Lion Dog" trinket. The game will be available in different versions: the Standard Edition, which can be purchased both in physical and digital format, and the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions, reserved for digital. The Deluxe will include the base game along with cosmetics and trinkets for Musashi, while the Premium Deluxe will add additional cosmetics, outfits for allies, and the game's digital soundtrack.

We leave you to the new trailer: enjoy!
