Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4: Infinity Ward's new CoD announced, arrives in October
The multiplayer sector promises to be particularly solid and anchored in realism, thanks to a fluid movement system that aims to guarantee us total control in every clash. The main novelty in terms of pure gameplay is represented by the Ballistic Authority technology, an innovation that unifies the precision of aiming, the physical handling of weapons and the perception of combat to offer us the most authentic gunplay ever seen in the series. The developers have completely eliminated the "bloom" phenomenon, which means that the shots fired from the barrel will be direct, predictable and faithful to the point where we are aiming, eliminating any randomness.
The recoil, the alignment of the camera and the response of the weapons to our movements or changes in posture have also been entirely reconstructed to faithfully reflect our commands. In addition, the visual effects and depth of field have been refined to allow us to spot enemies more easily without sacrificing the realistic impact of the action. All this is supported by fluid movements that preserve our momentum but maintain total responsiveness under pressure, introducing extended options to climb, hang, climb or jump so as to allow us to bypass opponents and take advantage of the verticality of the environments.
As for the scenarios in which we will battle, at launch we will be able to count on 12 Core maps set in different locations around the world, each characterized by its own visual identity and personalized infiltrations. Alongside these and the maps dedicated to the Clash and Great War modes, we will get to know Kill Block, a dynamic battlefield located inside the Westbridge training center. The peculiarity of this map lies in its modular structure, capable of completely reconfiguring itself between rounds by modifying lines of sight, paths and cover in real time.
With over 500 possible builds already available at launch, with many more coming during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 live seasons, we'll be forced to constantly adapt our engagement tactics. This fast-paced arena will support 3v3 and 10v10 Team Clash formats from the start, and will expand to other classic multiplayer modes in the future.
Great news also await the progression and customization system. The Class Creation system has been completely redesigned to unify Operators, weapons, equipment, and killstreaks on a single screen, allowing us to quickly access our custom builds. The famous Gunsmith returns in a more accessible guise: attachments will now be shared across the entire weapon class, streamlining experimentation. If we need quick advice, we can rely on "Gunny", a new feature developed by the Infinity Ward team that, simulating the expert eye of an artillery sergeant, will help us instantly configure effective set-ups for short, medium or long range clashes based on our style of play and the accessories unlocked.
Once a weapon reaches the maximum level, we will also unlock Apex Attachments, special modifications that will radically transform the behavior of the weapon in the field, altering its handling, firing mode or tactical utility. Finally, once we reach the maximum soldier level, we can choose between two Prestige paths: the Classic Prestige, which resets the progress of the Class Creation in exchange for bonuses to experience points and exclusive rewards, and the Regular Prestige, which allows you to start again from level 1 while keeping intact all the loads already unlocked.
Shifting the focus to the Campaign mode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will drag us into the midst of a rapidly escalating global conflict caused by the full-scale invasion of South Korea by North Korean forces. In this dramatic setting we will play the role of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier at his first real experience in the field, and together with his team we will have to fight for survival between trenches and cities that collapse under bombing. At the same time, we will follow the events of Captain Price, who has now become an outlaw operator who acts outside the system; Price will move in the shadows to hunt down a devastating weapon capable of unleashing a planetary catastrophe, forging uncomfortable alliances and carrying out a clandestine operation with unpredictable consequences. The story will force us to travel around the world, alternating between close-quarters combat in New York, frantic car chases through the streets of Paris, night raids by the SAS in Mumbai and large-scale pitched battles to reconquer the occupied territories.
For lovers of high-voltage challenges, there is the long-awaited return of DMZ, which is confirmed as the definitive extraction experience of the series. Whether we decide to infiltrate alone, or prefer to team up with other comrades, we will find ourselves inside an unstable and constantly evolving war zone, acting as unofficial resources with the aim of recovering advanced military technologies abandoned in the field. Inside the exclusion zone we will have to deal with changing weather conditions, hostile enemy forces and dynamic objectives in constant motion. Each game will represent a real risk in which we will be called upon to decide what to loot, who to fight, whether to negotiate or betray the other operators, and above all when it will be the ideal time to request extraction and get to safety with the loot before the world responds with even more violence to our assaults. To find out more practical details on how DMZ works, however, we will not have to wait long, since a first in-depth analysis with a lot of coverage focused on gameplay is set for next June 7.
From a purely technical point of view, the visual experience promises to reach heights of excellent fidelity, put entirely at the service of the gameplay to ensure the most immersive chapter ever. Thanks to the joint work of Infinity Ward and Beenox, the game will be supported by cutting-edge visual effects, a photorealistic lighting system, advanced smoke and explosions and a character rendering designed to maintain the readability of enemies even in the most chaotic situations or within maps full of dense vegetation.
In the coming days we will be able to take an even more in-depth look at all the facets of multiplayer and the various game systems through the official video series called "From the Ward", which will then be followed by dedicated summary posts on the official blog.
So we just have to be patient a few more months before we can take up arms on the battlefield of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4; In the meantime, here is the announcement trailer and a set of images.
