Warhorse confirms the rumors: new Kingdom Come Deliverance and Lord of the Rings RPG
The news came through the social channels and the official website of the Czech studio. "Warhorse Studios is opening a new chapter. We are working on a new RPG set in Middle-earth. We've always created worlds full of stories that envelop you, and that's exactly the kind of Middle-earth that we'll show you one day," the developers said, adding that the journey has just begun and that they'll share more details when the time is right.
On the Kingdom Come: Deliverance front, the timing seems closer: according to the statements of Phil Rogers, CEO of Embracer Group, the new chapter of the historical series should see the light of day within the next fiscal year, thus indicating a possible release in 2027. Considering that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 only hit shelves last year, it is likely that it is not a real third main chapter, but rather a substantial expansion or a spin-off with new characters and settings, but we will have to wait for official confirmation to be certain.
What makes these announcements particularly exciting is Warhorse's distinctive style: meticulously reconstructed open-world worlds, deep gameplay systems, and environmental responsiveness that have made Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 one of the most acclaimed titles of recent years. Imagining these same qualities applied to the mythical Middle-earth represents for many a dream that could finally come true, even if we will have to arm ourselves with patience: at the moment there are no release dates for Tolkien's new RPG, and considering the complexity of the project, it is reasonable to expect at least a couple of years before having more concrete news.
We just have to wait for the next updates, confident that the Czech studio will be able to maintain the very high expectations that it has been able to build with its work!
