Xbox Insider update: finally news for consoles, Quick Resume, Homegroups and more

After many months in which the "Xbox updates" did not add any news to the console to focus solely on the PC app, Microsoft has finally returned to update the OS of its console. The Redmond house has in fact released a new update dedicated to members of the Insider program, introducing a series of features aimed at improving navigation and control over menus. These new features, currently being tested by a small circle of users, will be gradually released to all owners of Redmond home consoles in the near future, aiming to make the user experience even more flexible.

One of the most significant changes concerns the Quick Resume, the technology that allows us to resume game sessions almost instantly. While it's a hugely popular feature, we know that some titles can experience technical or connection issues after a long pause. To overcome this inconvenience, we can now decide to disable this function individually for each game. The option, accessible through the title management settings or the options menu of each individual title, will allow selected games to always start in the traditional way, ensuring greater cleanliness at startup where necessary.

On the aesthetic front, customization also takes an important step forward. Soon we will no longer be limited to the system's default color palette, as specific controls will be introduced to create our own bespoke shade, fine-tuning each shade. This custom color will also be visible within the Guide, and we will always have the option to turn it off or return to the standard tones. Our creation will still remain saved for future use. This feature, currently reserved for Insiders, should officially debut for everyone with the update scheduled for April.

Finally, improvements have been made to the management of the Home screen and the visibility of Achievements. The limit of the groups that we can add to our home screen will go from the current two to ten, with a reorganization system made more fluid and intuitive, very similar to moving the game icons on the dashboard. The section dedicated to profiles will also receive a small retouch: by consulting an account directly from the Guide, we will be able to immediately view the five most recent badges obtained. This will allow us to more easily keep an eye on the most important moments of our journey on Xbox or that of our friends during normal browsing.
