Game Freak returns to show us Beast of Reincarnation
Set in the year 4026, the game will tell us the story of Emma and Koo, two protagonists who meet in a land in the East. Emma was born afflicted by the "blight", a condition that allows her to manipulate plants but which has forced her to a life of isolation, while Koo is a "malefact", a creature that usually poses a threat to the world. Although their lives seem incompatible, the two will embark on a journey to the West to confront the "Beast of Reincarnation", the source of all corruption. On our way we will have to make our way through corrupted forests generated by gigantic enemies called "Nushi", defeating them to absorb their power and acquire the skills necessary for the final battle.
The developers define the experience as a "one-person and one-dog action RPG", with gameplay that blends two distinct styles. We will control Emma in fast-paced fights based on the use of the katana, while Koo will support us with powerful abilities activated through a command system reminiscent of turn-based RPGs. However, we will not have to rely only on reflexes: by parrying with Emma's attacks we will earn points necessary to unleash Koo's abilities. A key tactical aspect is that by opening Koo's command menu, the action will slow down, giving us the time we need to assess the battlefield and plan strategy without the pressure of real-time action.
To allow us to customize our fighting style, we will be able to equip items called "Spirit Stones", which grant different effects in battle based on our actions, as well as find new katanas for Emma and Talismans for Koo by exploring the game world. The presence of three difficulty levels has also been confirmed: in addition to the Normal mode and the Hard mode for the most demanding players, there will be a Story Mode that will make the timing of parries more permissive and reduce the damage taken by enemies.
An aura of mystery also surrounds the narrative: the developers have emphasized a vital rule of this world, namely "never look at the sky", since an ancient legend warns that "something" floats up there that should not be seen. Finally, we point out that the game will support the Xbox Play Anywhere feature and will be optimized for portable devices, a perfect detail for those who play on the go.
We leave you with the long video: enjoy!
