After a seven-year absence, Bandai Namco's legendary dogfight franchise is about to return: the Japanese publisher unveiled Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve at The Game Awards, presenting a trailer that offers a first taste of the gameplay.

Developed again by the historic studio Aces Inc., this new chapter of the series promises to elevate the genre to new heights. The game will harness the power of Unreal Engine 5 and proprietary technologies to deliver an ultra-realistic and visually stunning aerial experience, with detail and visual effects that push realism to the limit on next-gen consoles. The goal is to bring a blend of fast-paced arcade-style action and incredible visuals, including vast expanses of clouds, finely rendered terrain, and the added challenge of navigating through harsh weather conditions.

In Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve we will take on the role of an aviation ace in a deep and engaging Campaign mode. The emotionally charged story will confront us with issues of identity and duty, as we fight for the survival of our homeland, the Federation of Central Usea (FCU), whose territory has been occupied and whose navy has been destroyed. Joined by three new pilots, our mission will be to lead the battle against the Republic of Sotoa to regain the lost homeland and eliminate the threat.

In the game we will be able to pilot various real fighter jets from all over the world, with the possibility of experiencing the exciting cinematics also from a first-person perspective, further increasing the involvement in the story set in Strangereal, a fictional universe at war where the weight of decisions and the bonds forged in battle will seem all too real.

In addition to that, Bandai Namco has confirmed that Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will also include several multiplayer modes, which will immerse us in dogfights against friends and foes, with more details to be revealed later.
