During the Xbox Partner Preview, the Counterplay Games team unveiled its new opus: Armatus, an intense action title that promises to test players' skills in a decidedly dark and fascinating context. Developed by a close-knit group that focuses everything on the "gameplay experience", the game is the result of a long work of passion and challenges overcome.

The title will transport us to a gothic and post-apocalyptic version of Paris, now reduced to a hell on earth where demonic hordes have taken over and humanity is almost extinct. The story revolves around four members of the ancient religious order of the Armatus, barricaded in the depths of the Cathédrale de Trois and abandoned by the divine; We will not be one of them, but a mysterious otherworldly warrior, an immortal entity linked to a sacred armor summoned by the four survivors to escort them to safety.

At the heart of the gameplay experience lies in the "Scoured Path", a changing and procedural path that winds through the labyrinthine streets of the French capital. Each game will be different from the previous one: we will have to face procedurally generated rooms, always varied enemy compositions and different rewards behind each door. The structure is that of a roguelite: death is not the end, but a learning tool. Our warrior is eternal and, through repetition, we will be able to store currencies and upgrades to become stronger and stronger, evolving run after run to try to reach the end of the path.

On the gameplay front, Armatus presents itself as a frenetic and chaotic shooter, where customization and "buildcraft" are fundamental. We will have sacred weapons, celestial powers and blessings that we will have to combine to create devastating synergies. The developers encourage experimentation, inviting us to find combinations of skills, arcane shields and grenades that can almost "break" the game with their destructive power, necessary to take down the grotesque demonic legions and bosses that will try to dismember us.
