Iridium Studios announces music RPG People of Note
Scheduled for release in 2026, People of Note doesn't just tell its story through cinematic music sequences, it bases its entire combat system and game mechanics on an intricate interactive sequence of musical expressions and abilities.
In this particular turn-based RPG, we will play the role of pop singer Cadence in her attempt to achieve stardom. After being excluded from the Noteworthy Song Contest, Cadence realizes that she will need a band to win. We'll begin a journey through the world of Note, visiting the rock city of Durandis, the EDM metropolis of Lumina and more, recruiting eclectic and powerful musicians. However, a threat looms: the Harmonic Convergence is disrupting the musical energies of the world, and dark forces are plotting to alter natural harmonies. It will be up to us and our band to step in to ensure that music still has a future.
The gameplay of People of Note promises an unprecedented turn-based combat experience, where each battle is an interactive musical performance. We will have to synchronize our attacks to the rhythm of the music to inflict greater damage, while the conditions of the clash will change dynamically as the music genre in the background changes, requiring us to adapt our strategy. We can also combine the unique musical genres of our group members to unleash devastating "mashup" attacks.
We'll explore the vast world of Note, where each musical genre is represented by a unique environment and culture, and delve into dungeons filled with wacky enemies and environmental puzzles. The developers have also placed great emphasis on customizing the experience: if we don't like puzzles or turn-based combat, we can simply deactivate or modify them, adapting the game to our style.
We leave you with the announcement trailer and a set of images.
