ROG Xbox Ally: All the improvements coming after launch

Yesterday ASUS finally confirmed the launch of the two ROG Xbox Ally handsellers for October 16, but the evolutionary path of these new devices will not stop at the launch, as the manufacturer and Microsoft will continue to work on continuous improvements to the OS (a dedicated version of Windows 11) of the device, which should also benefit other future devices.

A series of important improvements have been announced coming at the beginning of 2026; among these we will find the Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR), a technology that will take advantage of the NPU of the ROG Xbox Ally X to improve the resolution of games, thus ensuring high-definition graphics and a smoother frame rate without developers having to make changes to their titles.

Another interesting feature will be that of automatic replays, with the on-board AI that will capture our most significant moments of play, such as epic boss battles or important victories, and then generate short clips to share. ASUS has also confirmed that more AI-powered features will be introduced gradually, as Xbox and developers explore the potential of the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip.

But the news does not end there: the Advanced Shader Delivery has also been announced, a system that will pre-load the shaders of the games during download. This will allow some titles to launch up to 10 times faster, with smoother execution and lower battery consumption from the first playthrough.

In short, if you are interested in these hybrid PC/console handles, you can expect continuous improvements even after purchase!
