Styx: Blades of Greed reveals gameplay at gamescom

Nacon and Cyanide Studio took advantage of gamescom to show us the trailer that reveals the gameplay of Styx: Blades of Greed, the new episode of the stealth game with the killer goblin Styx. The video offers us an overview of the new abilities of our alter-ego and the settings we will explore, announcing the arrival of the game for next fall.

In Styx: Blades of Greed we return as Styx, the cunning goblin with caustic humor who has now mastered the art of stealth. This time, however, we will not work on behalf of others: we will be at the head of our personal crew aboard an airship, with the aim of getting our hands on Quartz, the most precious and dangerous resource of a world on the brink of war between elves, humans and orcs. Throughout our journey we will meet familiar faces and new wacky characters, in an adventure that marks the beginning of the Great War and the creation of the Black Hand, the group of mercenaries central to the events of Of Orcs and Men.

The game aims to refine the formula of the previous chapters, placing freedom and creativity at the center of the experience. Before each blow we will have to prepare ourselves by creating weapons and potions, and then take advantage of a wide range of skills at our disposal. Amber-related powers return, such as Cloning and Invisibility, which are joined by new abilities derived from Quartz, such as Mind Control and Time Shift. Each situation will be presented as a stealth puzzle that we can solve in multiple ways, taking advantage of the agility and ingenuity of little Styx.

Styx: Blades of Greed will allow us to freely explore three vast open and strongly vertical environments: the Wall, which marks the border of the human world, the lush orcish village of Turquoise Dawn and the ruins of the elven capital, Akenash. To move in these scenarios we will be able to count on new tools such as a hang glider to sail the skies, a grappling hook to quickly reach inaccessible places and claws to climb huge walls. Obtaining new tools will unlock previously unreachable areas, in a metroidvania-style progression.

We leave you with the gameplay presentation trailer.
