Capcom today revealed Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, a new chapter in its popular cel-shaded RPG series, a spin-off of the famous Monster Hunter. This is the first time that a title in the Stories series has landed on Xbox platforms, after the previous two episodes had arrived exclusively on PC and Nintendo and Sony platforms. The game, coming in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®5, Nintendo Switch™ 2 and PC (via Steam), will take us on an unprecedented adventure in the vast world of Monster Hunter.

The plot of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection revolves around two ruined nations, Azuria and Vermeil, threatened by a growing invasion of crystals. Hope is rekindled with the discovery of a mysterious egg from which a Rathalos, a monster that was thought to be extinct, hatches. The joy, however, is short-lived: a second Rathalos emerges from the same egg. Both monsters feature the same branding as the two Skyscale Rathalos, an omen of destruction that harkens back to a civil war 200 years earlier. With the environment deteriorating and monsters at risk of extinction, the flames of war threaten to flare up again.

In this new adventure, we will take on the role of the heir of Azuria. Thanks to special abilities, we will become the leader of the Rangers and the only Rathalos Rider in the kingdom. Our task will be to protect the monsters and investigate the mysterious egg quartz. However, an unexpected event will push us to investigate the strange phenomena that threaten the world, venturing into the forbidden lands beyond the Forbidden Ridge.

We will be accompanied by Eleanor, the princess of Vermeil. Concerned about the situation, she offers herself as a "hostage" to Azuria in the hope of easing tensions between the two nations. Impressed by the efforts of the Rangers, Eleanor and her trusty Monstie Anjanath will join us on our journey to discover the true intentions of her sister, the Queen of Vermeil. Bound by the looming shadow of calamity, we will launch ourselves into the torrent of destiny venturing into forbidden terrain.
