NetEase Games, a Chinese publisher so far involved in the production of mobile and multiplayer games, today announced its first AAA single player production, Blood Message, developed by studio 24 Entertainment (Naraka: Bladepoint).

As you can see from the spectacular trailer below, it is a cinematic action-adventure that would not look out of place next to the great AAA productions of the major console publishers and manufacturers; The game will combine a deep oriental-style narrative with survival, stealth and hand-to-hand combat mechanics.

The game is in development for consoles and PC, and does not have a release date for now. Here are the first official details, followed by the trailer and a set of images.

Blood Message is a linear, cinematic, single-player action adventure currently in development for PC and consoles. Powered by Unreal 5 Engine and enhanced with the studio's proprietary tools and technologies, Blood Message is NetEase Games' first single-player AAA title, blending brutal survival combat with deep Eastern storytelling.

Blood Message introduces a forgotten odyssey of loyalty and survival in which players join the Dunhuang Uprising, taking control of an unnamed messenger and his young son in this immersive third-person action-adventure. Caught in the crossfire of a righteous uprising and driven by loyalty to family and country, players will embark on a perilous journey east to deliver a message concerning the fate of their war-torn homeland. Amid the shifting sands of history, they will carve one last tale of loyalty.

Set during the final years of the Tang Dynasty, players will traverse a treacherous 3,000 lli (approximately 1,000 miles) odyssey to return to Chang'an, the heart of the Tang Empire. They will traverse deadly landscapes, including desolate deserts and the vast wilderness of East and Central Asia, to survive brutal sieges, relentless terrain, and crushing altitudes. The game's setting in the final years of the Tang Dynasty provides a cultural reference point of Chinese history that frames the story with the customs, culture, and rich history of the era.

How can countless ordinary people – smaller than dust – leave a mark on history? The Blood Message development team offers this answer: The remembrance and praise of future generations become their eternal monument.

The game invites players to step into the shoes of unsung heroes, not emperors or generals, but ordinary people driven by extraordinary determination.
