Korea certifies a new Xbox Dev Kit: mid-gen console on the way?

During last month's Business Update, Phil Spencer explained that Microsoft is by no means abandoning the hardware market, on the contrary: there are several hardware projects in the pipeline, including the new next-generation console and a device defined as "innovative". And now it looks like something is starting to move.

The Korean electronic device certification body has in fact just published the certification of a new XDK, namely the Xbox Developer Kit: a special version of the console used by video game developers. Typically, this type of certification takes place when a new device is about to hit the market: in fact, the previous certification of Dev Kits from the same body dates back to June 2020, when Microsoft was preparing to provide Xbox Series X|S XDKs to developers, ahead of the console's launch in November of the same year.

What does this mean? It is very likely that this indicates the arrival of a new Xbox, we imagine a mid-gen refresh like the previous Xbox One X; And the timing of the certification indicates that the refresh could arrive at the end of the year, in the September-October period.

As they say, when there's smoke... we just have to wait for any official announcements, which will probably arrive during the already highly anticipated Showcase in June!
